About
Hamad Jassim AlFayhani is a Qatari filmmaker and visual artist whose practice moves between the documentary and the poetic. He delves into themes of isolation, illness, and the intricate relationship between beauty and torment. His practice emerges from a deep engagement with personal experience, where emotion becomes both subject and method. Through film and photography, Hamad examines how inner states of fragility, solitude, and transformation manifest in the external world. His images often blur the line between reality and imagination, creating spaces where site, memory and feeling physically coexist.
Working across moving image, sound, and landscape, Hamad manipulates form and perception to construct alternate emotional realities, places where the boundaries of the self are tested and redefined. His films are not merely narratives but meditations on human endurance, vulnerability, and the search for meaning within stillness. In his visual language, silence and texture carry the weight of expression, and the act of looking becomes an encounter with the self. Rooted in the Gulf’s shifting cultural and physical landscapes, his work seeks to reconcile personal introspection with collective memory, offering viewers an immersive experience that transforms pain into a poetic reflection on what it means to exist, to feel, and to endure.
